Halton Christmas bazaars and more to entertain through the holidays

If you’d like to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, or even treat yourself to something new or something scrumptious, there is no better place than a Christmas bazaar.

Along with bazaars, there are a number of free holiday events going on throughout Halton.

Here are a few to get you started. Check back for more ideas as this list is updated.

BURLINGTON

Burlington Humane Society is holding a Christmas sale in its loft, Saturday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Half-price on all items plus Christmas decor. 740 Griffith Crt. (off Fairview)

Nelson High School will hold its first annual Holiday Sale Nov 24, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Reprising the tradition of Robert Bateman High School’s event which ran for several years until the school closed and most students and staff moved to Nelson HS).  Open to the community. Home cooked meals, metal works, gift baskets as well as 25 vendors with a diverse array of items. While most vendors will accept credit cards, school tables will require cash.

Enjoy the Burlington Festival of Lights from the rooftop at Joseph Brant Museum every Thursday evening in December between 6 and 9 p.m. The museum will be serving free hot chocolate and popcorn. Museum admission is not required for rooftop access.

St. Luke’s Christmas Market is being held Saturday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the St. Luke’s parish hall, 1382 Ontario St. Food emporium, jewelery, handcrafted holiday decorations, knitwear, plus a Treasure Room with antiques, fine china, crystal and more.

Sew on Fire Christmas Craft Sale will be held Saturdays, Nov. 19 and 26 and Dec. 3 and 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 975 Fraser Dr. Unit 7, Burlington (across from The Brick) Wreaths, gnomes, urban beanies, Christmas decor and pillows. Visit the Decor Shoppe and enjoy hot apple cider.

Grace United Church, 2111 Walkers Line, hosts a Nativity Tea Saturday, Dec. 3, noon to 3 p.m. Tea and treats will be served. Door prizes. Free will offering. The church will also host a musical afternoon Monday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. Free will offering. Church building fully accessible.

St. Matthew-on-the-Plain Anglican Church will hold its Mistletoe Market Saturday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 126 Plains Rd. E. Admission $2 or a food bank donation. Vendors, food, crafts, door prizes, silent auction.

OAKVILLE

On Saturday, Nov. 26, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the Bronte Historical Society hosts its Holiday Artist Show and Sale, at Sovereign House, 7 West River St. in Oakville. Free parking north of Sovereign House and overflow parking in the car park below. Featured will be paintings, pottery, clothing, sculpture, fibre arts, jewelry and more.

St. Jude’s Christmas bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attic treasures, bake table, silent auction, jewellery, Christmas table, art gallery, knitted goods, white elephant, Bow Tie cafe.

GEORGETOWN and ACTON

St. Alban’s Church in Glen Williams will host its annual Christmas on the Credit Bazaar, Saturday, Dec. 3rd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event features homemade pies, soups, baked goods, and crafts as well as provides an opportunity for supporters to take their chances at the penny table. Everything is donated and all funds go back to supporting the parish and the beautiful grounds that the Halton Hills community and beyond, enjoy year-round.

The Credit Valley Artisans Christmas Sale is being held Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cedarvale Park Cottage, corner of Main Street and Maple Avenue in Georgetown. Pottery, painting, stained glass, handweaving and more.

St. Joseph Patron of Canada parish Christmas Bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 64 Church St. E. in Acton. Penny sale table, religious articles, caricatures by local artist Lar and homemade baking with Christmas cookie plates.

Hillsview Acton Seniors Christmas Bazaar and Tea Room to be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Acton Arena, 415 Queen St. Tea room, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. $15 for adults, raffles, baking, Christmas decor, jewellery, crafts, books and more.

MILTON

Milton Historical Society is hosting its ChristmasFest extravaganza at the Waldie Blacksmith Shop in support of the Milton Downtown Business Improvement Area’s annual HolidayFest event Saturday, Dec. 3 between 1 and 4 p.m. Blacksmith demonstrations, local history books, blacksmith specialties, antiquities.
