There’s seldom any better way to link business with leisure than pandering at Marriott Marquis!
By Akanksha Dean
The remarkable thing about the Marriott Marquis in Bangkok is that it merges beautifully with the ‘Travel Brilliantly’ values of the Marriott Brand.
As I reach the facade of the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park in the heart of the Thai Capital, I am virtually overawed by the utter expanse of the soaring spaces which rim us.
As, along with the prestige, the grace in dress, and the forever charming Thai smile at check-in, I find it hard to even leave the welcoming of the lobby. Yet there’s still much more to explore, given we had just entered what is Bangkok’s largest hotel and the first in Asia Pacific.

Accommodation
Impeccably reverberating the fusion of convention and modernity, it’s easy to relax within the beautiful ultra-spacious room whose design is tastefully decorated to attain Thailand’s characteristic ambiance.
My room has a stunning view looking out over to the city scape and I can’t help but jump onto the huge comfy beds immediately! Contemporary design unified with inspirations of the land make spending time in the room at Marriot Marquis feel like a fairy-tale.

Breakfast
Breakfasts have always been more of an inclusion as a part of the food and beverage umbrella in my past reviews, but at the Goji Kitchen & Bar they have taken breakfasts to a whole new level.
That said I really don’t want to go into a long list of what to find at the milk and bagel bar, the cheese section, the pancake station… so in its place my emphasis is more on a, confidently less monotonous, list on the street food section.
This is the ideal place to sample Bangkok’s iconic street food staples, from pristine clean counters, and without leaving the doors.
A complete new to me and it feels more like an open air food court or a theatrical performance even, where vendors would throw together many of Bangkok’s street food favorites.

This starts at the visible with the rice and noodle stalls, which serve on an alternation of different meats through the week, where on the first morning I find my preferred Hainese Chicken Rice and the Roast Duck Noodle Soup.
And from there the selection is somewhat remarkable ranging from the baos and shumai of Yaowarat’s Chinatown, to flaming grills of the Chiang Mai sausage. And, during our two days stay, I manage to eat from China, to Japan, to India, and right across the globe.
In short the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park has quite probably the best buffet breakfast in Bangkok and truly commencing the journey, at the signature Goji Kitchen & Bar celebrates the universally cherished pleasures of great food and good company
Food & Beverage
‘Soba Factory’ offers a gastronomic experience unlike any other and serves up house – made noodles and other Japanese favorites in a traditional Tokyo – style setting.
The ‘lobby lounge’ is ideal for a drink before or after an enjoyable dinner and a great alternative to escape the metro bustle and unwind in the relaxed ambience.
Located just off the lobby area is ‘Siam Tea Room’ the authentic Thai coffee shop surrounded by panoramic views and is my favorite spot for lunch and High Tea.
Additionally, there’s a ‘pool side bar’, on the 9th floor. The menu offers an extensive collection of prudently crafted cocktails and tapas-style dishes making it the ideal poolside venue to spend a lazy afternoon or evening.

Rejuvenate
Two outdoor swimming pools means plenty of space to relax on the sun loungers taking in the tropical ambience.
If you are a health freak, you would love the fully equipped exercise room with separate massage room, steam, sauna, and Jacuzzi, manned by professional trainers…it’s all there and needless to add I make full use of it.
You can even be a part of the yoga or Pilate classes if you don’t want to miss out on a great work out! The spa uses ingredients which revitalize the face and body and work with your skin to deliver outstanding results. Kids would just love the fun filled activities at their club
Staff and Service
Our every whim is catered by the very friendly and obliging staff, and with so many dining choices and activities that we are factually spoilt for choice.
Thai slant on the hospitality, combines traditionally excellent, large hearted and luxuriously comfortable service with staff which is intuitive of all the guests needs, thus making each guest feel like a Very Important Person.
