Singapore’s Sentosa Island will have even more attractions by September this year when the tallest fountain in South-East Asia starts spouting at the new Central Beach Bazaar development.
The new Central Beach Bazaar is billed as a unique carnival beach experience that will offer day and night entertainment. The new attractions are centred around an International Food Street with eight new international street food offerings housed in a mix of food trucks and up-cycled shipping containers.
The star at the new development is without doubt the new Sentosa Sky Jet which will spout water 80m into the air.
Floating on an open sea platform, it has been designed and constructed to minimise impact on the environment and marine life. It is anchored by marine-grade chains and seabed weights, without the need for concrete groundwork, unlike traditional fountains of its kind.
The Sentosa SkyJet, located adjacent to the over-water stage for Wings of Time, was created to complement the outdoor night show’s perfectly choreographed symphony of water jets, laser light projections and pyrotechnics.
LED lights will illuminate the SkyJet stream and create a colourful spectacle in the evening sky that can be seen several kilometres away.
Joining the Sentosa SkyJet in the line-up of new experiences at Central Beach Bazaar is a modern rendition of the iconic Sentosa Musical Fountain from the early 1980s.
Visitors can look forward to a modern iteration of the famous Musical Fountain. It will operate from the existing infrastructure of Wings of Time and it will comprise two curated five-minute performances — one that showcases a score of musical numbers that were played back in the day from the 1990s, such as Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, and Walking on Sunshine.
Mr Buhdy Bok, managing director of Mount Faber Leisure Group said: ”We took the opportunity of the pandemic tourism lull to reimagine, pivot and transform our offering that was essentially operating only in the evenings, into one that is appealing — not only to tourists, but also locals — and yet is able to delight our customers from day to night. With the return of Sentosa Musical Fountain, a plethora of lifestyle offerings, and the new magnificent SkyJet Sentosa, Central Beach Bazaar is poised to be a bustling, one-stop entertainment destination.”
